Fossils Card Sort- Picture Perfect Science

I love the resources provided in the Picture Perfect Science series from NSTA!  We used some resources from a unit they have included about fossils.  In this lesson, students sorted cards to show how a living thing becomes a fossil.  Then we read a picture book about fossils and the students looked back to see if they needed to change the order of any of their cards. (Research shows that if students make a prediction before the learning, they will learn more!)

Investigating Fossils

We started our study of fossils last week and students have looked at real fossils and created questions to answer by doing research and creating a Google Slide presentation with a partner.  They are working collaboratively to create their slide show and we hope to finish them up this week!
